Albertsons Outlines Top 4 AI Priorities for Fiscal 2026

Albertsons outlined four key AI priorities for fiscal 2026: digital customer experience, merchandising, labor, and supply chain, according to Chief Technology Officer Anuj Dhanda. The grocer’s AI-powered Ask AI search capability has driven a 10% increase in basket sizes, while its AI shopping assistant launched in late 2025 helps customers build baskets and shop recipe ingredients. Albertsons is using generative AI to forecast labor needs and improve scheduling, while also offering AI-specific training and certifications through Microsoft’s Enterprise Skilling Initiative. Dhanda emphasized these aren’t pilots but rather long-term investments already driving measurable impact, noting that Albertsons was the first major grocer to move fully to the cloud, providing the foundation to accelerate AI adoption.
